'''Nerd''' is a term often bearing a derogatory connotation or [[stereotype]], that refers to a person who passionately pursues [[intellectual]] activities, [[esoteric]] knowledge, or other obscure interests that are age inappropriate rather than engaging in more [[Social relation|social]] or popular activities. Therefore, a nerd is often excluded from physical activity and considered a [[loner]] by peers.

== Etymology ==

==Characteristics==

The stereotypical nerd is intelligent but socially and physically awkward. In film and television depictions, nerds are disproportionately [[white male]]s with [[glasses]] and [[dental braces|braces]].<ref>Lori Kendall. "OH NO! Further, the term and its use predate the popularity of African-American behavior mimickry in some whites, which did not really take off in significant levels until the early 1990's. Also, many popular whites haven't acted or dressed in an African-American style at all, such as the grunge trend, for example.

They typically appear either to lack confidence or to be indifferent or oblivious to the negative perceptions held of them by others, with the result that they become frequent objects of scorn, ridicule, [[bullying]], and [[social isolation]]. Some nerds show a pronounced interest in subjects which others tend to find dull or complex and difficult to comprehend, or overly mature for their age, especially topics related to [[science]], [[disambiguation]], [[mathematics]] and [[technology]]. On the opposite end of the spectrum, nerds may show an interest in activities that are viewed by their peers as immature for their age, such as trading cards, comic books, or [[role playing games]] such as ''[[Dungeons & Dragons]]'' and other things relating to [[fantasy]] and [[science fiction]]. They are also stereotyped for being obsessed with ''Star Trek'', ''Star Wars'', and other science fiction shows or movies. Nerds are often portrayed as either obese or incredibly thin and nonathletic. Nerds are also portrayed as having symptoms of [[obsessive-compulsive disorder]], such as by showing an extreme devotion to following classroom rules.

Stereotypical nerd qualities have evolved in recent years, from awkwardness and social ostracism to widespread acceptance and even celebration of their abilities. This is largely attributable to the rise of the [[computer]] industry, which has allowed many "nerdy" people (most notably [[Bill Gates]]) to accumulate large fortunes and other measures of social prestige. Some measure of nerdiness is widely considered desirable, because it suggests a person who is intelligent, respectful, interesting, and able to earn a large salary. This evolution has dovetailed with waning emphasis on the social awkwardness of nerds, with more attention placed on their intelligence and academic enthusiasm.
==Nerds and Asperger syndrome==

Many traits associated with the nerd stereotype—an unusual penchant for accumulating highly specialized or technical knowledge, impaired social ability, and/or occasionally poor [[motor coordination]]—are characteristics of [[Asperger syndrome]], an [[autism spectrum disorder]]. The existence of the nerd concept in the popular consciousness may be attributed to [[covariance]] between certain behavioral and cognitive predispositions, which at the extreme results in forms of [[autism]]. [[Nerdcore hip hop]] is a genre of [[hip hop music]] that has risen in popularity over the last few years, often expressing nerd themes with pride and humor. A [[Jedi Academy]] member since 2002, formerly a [[Jedi Academy Knight]] before the [[purge]]. Trifounder of the [[JASE]]. Known also as Jedi_Pimp, or just JP. JP became a knight on Dec 29, 2004.

== Back in the Day ==

When JP first started his career in the Jedi Knight series playing the demo of Jedi Knight 1 in the MSN Gamezone with his best friend, Jedi_Money. They both picked up Jedi Knight:Jedi Outcast and continued to play on the Gamezone where they both played without a mouse, and on a 56k connection (dont missed that...). While searching for information about the game and its moves JP stumbled onto http://www.jediknightii.net. There he downloaded the "The Jedi Academy " map v1. He found out it was the official map of a www.academy.jediknightii.net. He then submitted an application and about a month later (DJ was slow back then) he joined The Academy, profile id#690.

== Early Days in the Academy ==

Back in October of 2003, JP logged onto the Jedi Academy server for the first time. JP recalls, ''"I can still remember the 1st time I logged on to jk2home. I spent about 5 minutes just picking a skin, finally picked a Kyle skin in a black ninja-like suit. I renamed myself "BackInBlack" and hoped on. I remember walking into the Matrix room and stopping in awe and i saw two jedi fighting on the mat. One of them being Datheus, I remember him winning fairly effortlessly and waiting to learn to play as he did."'' JP later asked Datheus to teach him and became his padawan. He trained under Datheus for a short time before Datheus went MIA. It was then he met the master behind his base of skills. The man, the myth, the legend, [[Nightcrawl2r]]. Nighty's Earth, Wind and Fire class was the basis for JP's skills. Nighty was also a behavioral role model for JP being the one who personified what a Jedi Knight should be. Skilled, polite, patient, and giving.

== Road to Knighthood ==

JP started playin Jedi Knight:Jedi Academy during an illegal hax version of the alpha where he started as a dualist. He quickly saw how the dual and staff took away from the true jedi feeling and went back to the his true abilities with the single saber.

JP with the help of NoFrikinfun start a mapping project which eventually became the Jedi Academy maps, after the project was ninja'd by Virtue and FaDed (for the best obviously).

After going AFK from the JK3 series due to un-interest JP returned to the JA prior to the release of the Orginal Trilogy release. He came back to a server full with students and knights he had no knowledge of. That is how he eventually became friends with [[Tido]]. Its a long story which Tido can add if he cares. Needless to say, they became friends in a VERY unorodox way. When he was nominated for knight his newly found friend Tido, his long time mate Virtue along with Motrec, and Janus helped him train for his knight trials. Tido with his core abilities of Hybrid dueling, Virtue with his yellow style, Full Force Light side and guns work, Motrec with his Dual saber skills and Janus with his Staff skills. JP had a dream team of teachers and still failed his first test due to rushing into it. He wasnt ready for the trials he had to go thru due to the fact that it was the hardest test of skill you will ever come by. On top of that he killed the head of the trial by accident mid conversation with a sniper rifle and got destroyed by Leif and Tido in his duels. JP's second trial came months later hours of training. He then passed that trial and attained the rank of Jedi Knight.

He played for three or four months before again going MIA and was demoted during the [[purge]].

== Days Away ==

Jedi_Prodigy would be MIA although still actively checking the forums for about two years. Through that time he was have times of relapse spending brief periods of time playing JK3. Especially prior to the JA Las Vegas meeting in 2005 (Where he met with [[Virtue]], [[Darth-Mobility]], and Lord Romulas). During that period of time JP and his wingman [[Cloakedthunder]] were a two man wrecking crew in games like Planetside, America's Army (Formed Deafenin Silence), The Matrix Online, Battlefield 2, Star Wars Galaxies, and finally World of Warcraft.

== Triumphant Return ==

Jedi_Pimp would return again in May of 2007 prior to Celebration IV where he met with [[Darth-Mobility]], [[Darth Sirius]], and [[Jade Jedi]] (Pictures can be found here http://www.lovetree27.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=2715&g2_page=1). JP is now actively hideing in JK2 and the Moviebattles community. He has put JK3 to his past as he enjoys jk2 much more because he simply does not have the skill or motivation to compete with the better players who are playing Jedi Academy.

JK13 is a [[Staff]] saberist who has been playing Jedi Knight games for nearly 4 years. A former [[Jedi Academy Trainer|JAT]] and current member of [[Jedi Academy Aurochs|The Jedi Academy Aurochs]], he is acknowledged as a skilled staff user who is intensely competitive but always friendly and happy to train others.

===JediKnight13===

JK13 started playing [[Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast]] before the [[The Jedi Academy]] opened. Seeing a thread about a school for JK2, and thinking he would like to contribute to the school, he applied to become a [[Jedi Academy Trainer]] thinking he would fail the trial, but be taken as a student (considering applications to become students were closed). His plan backfired, and JK13 became a [[Jedi Academy Trainer|JAT]]. JK13 taught [[blue stance]] and some simple [[red stance]] combos for several months before becoming inactive.

===Next Phase of Activity===

After JK13 came back from being inactive, he found himself demoted to [[Jedi Academy Student|Student]]. Since his last activity, JK2 had been patched from v 1.03 to verson 1.04. This patch changed the saber system drastically, removing [[Lightsaber Throw|saber throw]] and aerial lunge moves from duels and heavily [[nerf|nerfing]] the backstab and backslash maneuvers. JK13 was crushed, his saber style was completely destroyed. Realizing he had to rebuild his style and learn new tactics in stances he rarely ever used, JK13 annoyed anyone he could find to teach him new tactics.

===Padawan to [[Luke Skywalker]]===

One such annoyed person was [[Jedi Academy Master]], then [[Jedi Academy Trainer]], [[Luke Skywalker]]. Finally breaking down and taking time to train a noobish JK13, Luke taught JK13 the foundation skills of his style, the [[Yellow stance|Yellow]] Scissors, advancing scissors and diagonal swipes. JK13 improved drastically in the weeks following this training and had a new style, new direction, and new skill set. Quickly finding that his Dialup internet was too slow and laggy to be competitive at Jedi Outcast, JK13 gave up the game to have more time in his RL.

===Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy===

Soon though, a new game was relased, [[Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy]], and JK13 was back to see the new game in action. After playing the demo JK13 was hooked on the Star Wars action once more, rejoining The Academy again in the new game. JK13 had fun trying out the new staff saber in The Jedi Academy. However, soon the games would take a back seat to real life for a while and JK13 became inactive once again for a span of several months.

===Return of JK13!===

Eventually JK13 returned to his staffing ways, joining the JA server seemingly out of nowhere. Finding the place completely changed, JK13 felt strange. Not knowing anyone in the JA was a real oddity to him. Attempting to raise his skill with staff saber and make new friends at the same time, JK13 soon befriended players such as [[Dane]], [[Tido]], and [[Sauce]]. JK13 also began to learn important skills as he attended JA classes and practiced his tactics under the tutelage of various players. Eventually JK13 went to [[Pick Up Game|PUG]] tffa with some of his friends from the JA and from this learned an appreciation for servers other than those belonging to The Jedi Academy. From his experience on pug servers and his other favorite pasttime, watching training demos of more skilled players, JK13 began to develop new and more radical tactics to use in his fighting repertoire, including his style of changing lightsaber stances in the middle of a swing, a tactic he learned from watching the wildly popular Austrian player, [[eviLwindu]]. His new tactics, combined with strengthening movement skills and a patient demeanor, earned JK13 a roster slot on [[Jedi Academy Aurochs|The Jedi Academy Aurochs]], the competitive fighting team which represents The Jedi Academy.

The Bladeworks Network (BWN) is an online gaming network designed to govern and manage Jedi Knight Academy dueling servers. Our goal is to enhance the JKA gaming experience by providing gameplay improvements, accurate player ranking, profiling, and a central location for competition and collaboration between JKA players in [[Duel Mode]]. BWN is ran by popular JKA players who include Darkstar, Moria, and SiNiStaR

Player ratings loosely based on the chess CXR scoring system.
Detailed player profiles and match histories.
Server specific ranking and player profiles (by server owner for 1 or more servers).
League rankings (all servers).
Live server listings, show which servers are active, who is playing and their rating.
In-game player score reports.
In game match announcer.
More realistic gameplay with increased damage accuracy.
Enhanced gameplay balance between no force and force jump settings.
Score keeper, automatic tracking and reporting of clan and player matches.
Abuse reporting and abuse management system.

Duel Mode

Duel Mode is a special [[gametype]] in [[JK3]] where two fighters from everyone on the server fight eachother while everyone else watches in [[spectator]] mode. The winner continues to fight and the loser goes to the bottom of the list of those waiting to fight. Both fighters start with 100[[hp]] and the [[damagescale]] is adjusted to make hits do less damage - prolonging the fight. There are an entire group of [[duel maps]] that come standard with the game for players to enjoy this gametype on.

In the Dueling World the most popular form of dueling takes place on [[BWN]] or the blademod provided by www.bladeworks.net[http://www.bladeworks.net]

"[[fraglimit]] 1" makes it so a fighter only has to win 1 duel to advance to the next fighter
