Jaiko has been at the Jedi Academy since August 15th 2003. Originally joining under the name of "Venom[JAS]". Jaiko D'Kana is currently a Jedi Academy Master at the Jedi Academy. He primarily uses a Single Saber Yellow Stance with great perfection and skill.

Jaiko has also become somewhat of an inspiration and role model to many. His attitude change since he went by the name of "Venom[JAS]" has inspired many to look at people, the game and life in general in a much lighter and friendlier way. With skill, knowledge, patience and a love for all people, Jaiko is possibly a good definition of the word 'Friend'.

He has grown throughout the ranks of the Jedi Academy with a refusal to accept his abilities. Too honest for his own good, Jaiko has gone from Student to Knight to Instructor and finally to Master maintaining his smile and heart. Jaiko was taken on by Jaina D'Kana, it is assumed that this is because of the potential she saw in him to become a great Jedi. With training and time Jaiko became a smaller version of what he is to this day. With even more time he merely improved himself, taking on padawans, in the process, with precise aim. Just like Jaina he would not accept anyone who needed/wanted help, but choose the most potential candidates to receive his training. As cruel as this sounds it was not intended that way, he would choose only those with the right attitude and patience to match.

His two padawans Illian D'Kana and Alexander D'Kana were taken in a long time space from each other, first was Illian and then Alexander.

The D'Kana family was formed by a man known as (Eclipse D'Kana?), Jaiko entered this family via Jaina D'Kana. The intiation is not confirmed by merely becoming a padawan of a currently existing D'Kana; only once the padawan has proven themselves are they allowed to take the name D'Kana. Whilst many newer students strive to be a part of this family, there is nothing progressively to be gained, save from friendship and private training. The addition of Jaiko, his padawans and many others have made this family a very strong group.

The 'Jai' in Jaiko stands for Jedi.
The Jedi Academy Aurochs are the official team of The Jedi Academy. Members from the Academy are recruited into the Aurochs to represent the community both in fighting ability and in good sportsmanship. The Aurochs compete in TFFA and Duel matches against other teams in JK3. The JAA also takes an active role in contributing back to the Academy and also to the entire JK3 community. As such, the Aurochs comprise the very best of the Academy.

What Is An "Aurochs"
An aurochs (Bos primigenius) is an extinct European mammal of the Bovidae family. Julius Caesar wrote of the great black bulls in an account of the Black Forest..."They are but a little less than Elephants in size, and are of the species, color, and form of a bull. Their strength is very great, and also their speed. They spare neither man nor beast that they see. They cannot be brought to endure the sight of men, nor be tamed, even when taken young." The team derives its name from the Final Fantasy X team: the Besaid Aurochs. The reason why Luke Skywalker picked this name is unknown, though. The word "aurochs" is both singular and plural and can also be thought of as a collective, individuals forming a greater whole.

Origins and History
The Hydroball Team
The first Academy team to carry the name "Aurochs" was originally created by Luke Skywalker and (SKX) Dark Blade as a casual Hydroball team at the Academy. Who the original players were and how active the team was at that time is unknown today. All that is known is the team eventually fizzled out with the arrivial of JK3.

Aphex's Aurochs
Late in 2003, Aphex created the first version of the Aurochs as they are today. He invisioned a team of Academy members that could go out and compete against other clans/teams in Duels and TFFA while representing the Academy. Aphex wanted the Aurochs to spread word of the Academy to various players in JK3 that didn't know about it and needed help.

The Aurochs were an instant success in the Academy and attracted some of its best fighters. The team practiced fairly often and participated in all aspects of JKA such as no-force, full-force, capture the flag, and all-out FFA. The team took on a number of clans and participated in some tournaments. Unfortunately, the records of those matches have been lost.

After The Departure of Aphex
Midway through 2004, Aphex joined the US Army and was unable to lead the Aurochs any more nor fulfill his duties as a Jedi Academy Knight. He turned over control of the team to Jaiko D'Kana, a JAT at the Academy. Jaiko was unable to do much for the slowly retiring team because of various issues in his life and the inability of his internet connection to join game servers. The Aurochs fell into inactivity and the team faded away once again.

The Return of the Aurochs
On October 10th, 2004, then Jedi Academy Knight Tido wrote to Jaiko to allow Janus, a former Aurochs and then a Knight, to take lead of the team and make it active again. Jaiko readily agreed and passed the responsibility to Janus. Janus laid a new foundation for the Aurochs and Tido constructed a new website to reflect the changes. The Aurochs took a design similar to the Academy's with the leader of the team being the "Master Aurochs", the leadership advisors being the "Master Auroch Mentors", the JAK+ who were involved being the "Mentors", and the rest of the team being "Aurochs". The team grew quickly and immediately started winning some matches.

Janus couldn't remain as the leader of the Aurochs because of issues in his life and eventually because the purge removed him from the title of Jedi Academy Knight making him uneligable to lead the team. Janus passed the title of Master Aurochs to 3th, padawan of Aphex and a Knight at the time. The Aurochs continued to flourish.

The Dual Team Concept
Not long after 3th took charge, the team realized the current system wasn't working smoothly. It became apparent that the Academy's design wasn't proper for a team and the Aurochs were suffering inactivity problems in the upper ranks just like the Academy was. Also, the Aurochs were caught in a tough debate about whether to recruit a team to win or recruit a team to allow more people to participate despite the outcome. It was believed that the team could accomplish both objectives and a dual-team system was drafted for the Aurochs. The Aurochs became two teams: the White Team and the Green Team. The White Team represented the top-skilled players and were to play against the toughest clans/teams. The Green team consisted of Aurochs that were considered "up and coming" and were to play intermediate level teams/clans. The hope was that both teams would be active, play opponets of their skill level, and the Aurochs would have a system that constantly improved players to the next level. The design worked well for the White Team and it went on to achieve some great victories in JKA. The Green Team, however, never became motivated about their matches and made little effort to improve or even participate.

Conflicts With The Academy
The Aurochs suddenly found themselves in a tough situation when teammate Sauce was suddenly banned from the Academy for making a sarcastic remark about laming on the Wovian clan's forums. Despite efforts to talk with the JAC, the Aurochs could not help their friend whose intentions were not meant to be serious. From this point on, the Aurochs and JAC had trouble getting along with one another. Situations arose where the JAC disapproved of the Aurochs. The team felt like they were being targeted and that the Academy was being hostile towards them.

The Aurochs went into debate amongst themselves about seperating from the Academy. Many felt that they were not welcome at the JA and that the Council, for whatever reasons, might destroy the team they had come to enjoy being a part of. On the other hand, most Aurochs didn't want to be a clan and liked representing the ideals and comradery they enjoy as members of the Academy. Most of the team agreed that the best course of action was to remain a part of the JA, but start preparing incase their fears about the Council were true. After this, the Aurochs began moving their website to their own domain and started acquiring their own game servers. Despite efforts to move on and make due, motivation dropped and the team stopped competing.

The Golden Age
The Aurochs regained their motivation and their desire to achieve the goals of the team. Because of the failure in the dual-team system, a new one-team system was drafted to create the "leaner and meaner" Aurochs. The idea was to have a smaller but better team overall. The focus was no longer to field only the best players in competition, but instead force everyone on the team to improve. Recruitment requirements were toughened, and it was harder to remain a member of the team if were are inactive. The Aurochs moved back to the JA's website and much of the tension between the Academy and the Aurochs had lightened due to the unbanning of Sauce and other reasons. The team participated in matches, strengthed its activity in Europe, and represented the Academy as the best "clean" team in the world in the ESL.

During this time, the Aurochs assisted with tffa classes with the Jedi Academy, attracting new students to the TFFA gametype. The Aurochs pushed for basejka Academy servers and eventually this did happen.

The Aurochs greatest achievement would eventually be reaching the rank of #3 in the ESL. But nothing gold can stay...

Decline and Retirement
Shortly after reaching the rank of #3, the Aurochs suffered lost after lost in the ESL. The team's confidence was shattered. In an attempt to counteract this, a new training system was implemented while the team took a break from competitive gaming. The training system was established and conducted; however, the timing was not the best. The Aurochs were slowly losing members to inactivity, and thus the training sessions only had a handful of Aurochs present. Eventually, the training sessions were abandoned.

During this time, the Aurochs were having troubles with the JAC once again. Certain projects, which to the JAC overstepped the bounds of the "JA's football team," strained the relationship of the Aurochs and the Academy. Both sides misunderstood one another, not willing to look at the other's point of view, making it very hard to come up with a concrete solution to the problem. Eventually, these projects were abandoned, and problems that arose on IRC were resolved. There was still some tension present though.

After a couple of months, the Aurochs noticed how inactive they had become. Due to real life circumstances, college, jobs, and other factors, a large portion of the Aurochs were not able to maintain a decent level of activity in-game. Some felt discouraged with the constant conflicts with the JAC. Some members of the Aurochs noticed the current condition of the team and tried to give the team a wake-up call. This wake-up call was not successful. The Aurochs could not maintain a level of excellence they previously had. They had only participated in 2 matches ever since they left the ESL. The majority of the team agreed it was time for the Aurochs to retire. The team planned on going out strong, hoping to leave an Auroch legacy that someone would pick up later in the JA.

When it was revealed that the Aurochs were retiring, the JAC explicitly stated that the team could not retire, but individuals could. This statement dissolved the Aurochs arranged plan to retire together after one last meeting. One by one, Auroch members stated they were retiring individually from JKA. Tido cleaned up the forums and handed over access to R2D2 and 3th, who was not present due to real life problems. The Aurochs beloved bot, b00m, run by Tido, became one with the Force shortly after this happened. The team was left with only two of its members, R2D2 and Jade Jedi.

The greatest era of the Aurochs thus far was finished.

A New Beginning
R2D2 and Jade Jedi, were the only Aurochs to stay after the mass exodus towards the end of 2006. They have both committed themselves to rebuilding the Aurochs and to recruit new members as to generate more interest within The Jedi Academy and the Aurochs.

R2D2 became the new Team Manager/Master Auroch after 3th, while Jade Jedi took on the role of trying to fill the shoes of Tido as the new Team Captain.

Shortly after, Piccolo and Wicek joined the team on completion of their trial and the re-building process had begun. Around the same time the Aurochs CTF squad was implemented and saw the return of Rosered to take the reigns of CTF Captain.

The Aurochs are looking forward to continuing the rebuilding process in 2007 and to start competing again in an attempt to regain some of their former glory within the JA community and the ESL.

In all honestly, theaurochs.net isn't a proper place for the Archives to live. It needs to be under the umbrella of a major JK3 community. That would basically mean either JK3Files.com or The Jedi Academy. Discuss!
DJ Sith has agreed to let the Archives be hosted by the Academy @ http://archives.thejediacademy.net. This really is a good move for the Archives because it connects us directly to a major hub of activity for jk3. == Combination Attacks ==

In the above section we looked at how we can perform single swings or attacks which are both very effective and very powerful tools within any lightsaber combat situation. It is however, possible to chain these swings and rotations together in order to perform combination attacks.

Scissors:
This is performed through alternating right and left swings. It doesn’t matter which you start on as long as the following swing is the alternate state. *****Scissors is popular and used frequently due to its balanced offensive and defensive benefits.

Crouching scissors:
This is performed the same way as regular scissors but is performed whilst your character is crouched. This makes you a smaller target and generally harder to hit. However, as a result your head is lower and easier to hit resulting in high damage.

Diagonal Scissors/Buzz saw:
This is a variation on the idea of performing a scissor. This combination is performed using a variation of Forward/Right, Backward/Left and Forward/Left, Backwards/Right. While the range of situations for such a move is much more finite, the usefulness of such a combination should not be underestimated.

Crouching Diagonal Scissors/Buzz saw:
This is performed the same way as regular Diagonal Scissors but with the addition of the character crouching providing a level of defence as you are a smaller target.

Advancing Scissors:
Advancing scissors is a great example of an offensive based combo moving the combo independent of its set keys towards the opponent. Whilst very hard to perform, once mastered the advancing scissors offer a new range of benefits to the user.

First move: Perform a side swing (For the sake of the example we shall start with left).
Second move: Release all the keys involved in performing the side swing and take a couple steps forward.
Third move: Perform the next swing (in our case right) just before the first swing has finished.

This may be repeated several times.
Special Moves
Lunge:
(Crouch + Forward + Attack)
This move performs an upward rising lunge with the potential of causing very high damage to an opponent. This is often useful in countering other special moves or as a surprise attack.

Blue Kata:
(Attack + Alt Attack)
This performs a very fast, spinning lightsaber move. I recommend caution when using this move as the long recoil time leaves you a very tempting target.

Back Stab:
(Backwards + Attack) When opponent is behind you
Your lightsaber is thrust backwards into the opponent causing heavy damage.
Combination Attacks

Third move: Perform the next swing (in our case right) just before the first swing has finished.

This may be repeated several times.

Comment: Overhead swings in blue stance are often used for quick strike or pressure adding strategies. The swing is carried over the users head/right shoulder delivering a blow down onto the opponents head or upper torso.

Keys: Forward, Left or Forward, Right + Attack
Produces: Forward Diagonal
Comment: Diagonal attacks provide slightly more defence than overhead strikes and can be used either alternating directions for an offensive style attack or used consecutively to produce a spin.
Keys: Left/Right + Attack
Produces: Side-Swings
Comment: Left and right swings are often used in blue stance for hit and run style attacks. These swings are relatively low hitting the lower torso or upper leg which can be useful for hitting under the opponents defensive arc.
Swing Listing
Blue Stance- Practical Application

Blue stance has been briefly introduced in previous sections of the holocron. We have looked at the attributes and behaviour that makes Blue stance what it is as well as discussing the possible advantages and disadvantages Blue stance has looking at it from a strategic standpoint. Blue stance may be the single fastest stance within a JKA context. But how do we use it?

This section of the holocron looks at the practical use of each lightsaber type and style focusing on swings, combos and the use of each.

For the sake of continuity I will be assuming that you (the user) have set up the movement keys to correspond to the directional keys on the keyboard.

-Individual Swings-

Keys: No Direction/ Backwards/ Forwards + Attack
Produces: Overhead Swings

Keys: Backwards, Left or Backwards, Right + Attack
Produces: Backwards Diagonal
Comment: : Backwards diagonal attacks provide slightly more defence than overhead strikes and can be used either alternating directions for a defensive style or used consecutively to produce a spin.
Lunge
The most dangerous move in blue stance, the lunge is a quick, powerful uppercut that hits directly in front of the jedi. It is achieved by pressing forward, crouch, and primary fire simultaneously, or by holding forward and crouch and then pressing primary fire. The lunge can be devastating if timed perfectly, possibly inflicting 100hp. The lunge's effectiveness depends primarily on the element of surprise. Most of the time, if the opponent sees blue stance, he/she expects the lunge.
To Jedi the lightsaber is his/her main weapon. It is elegant, strong and powerful reflecting each user’s inner personalities and feelings. Mastering saber combat can be very difficult and takes time, patience and training to perfect.
Since the saber is a sword-like weapon, there are multiple possible Stances and Styles as with any combat form.

The Single saber is an elegant weapon often favored for its adaptability within any given combat situation. This adaptable nature relies heavily on this styles ability to pull on its numerous “stances”.

Styles for the single saber include blue stance (fast), yellow stance (medium), and red stance (strong). Each stance has its own unique advantages and disadvantages, as well as 2 special moves.
Ok, with most of my projects in the JA underway hardwired and myself will be turning our efforts onto the Archives and have a range of ideas instore. We thank all those involved in the creation of the archives and will envdevor to ensure that their efforts were not in vain. It just goes to show what a truly amazing community this is :)

Moving the Archives
In all honestly, theaurochs.net isn't a proper place for the Archives to live. It needs to be under the umbrella of a major JK3 community. That would basically mean either JK3Files.com or The Jedi Academy. Discuss!
DJ Sith offers hosting @ The Academy
DJ Sith has agreed to let the Archives be hosted by the Academy @ http://archives.thejediacademy.net. This really is a good move for the Archives because it connects us directly to a major hub of activity for jk3. Also, the JA is 'the place for Jedi learning' and now the Archives will be right in the middle of that.

The Single Lightsaber is the traditional weapon of the Jedi. The power of the single saber lies within its users ability to adapt to almost any situation presented.

Styles for the single saber include blue stance (fast), yellow stance (medium), and red stance (strong).

Each stance has its own unique advantages and disadvantages as well as 2 special moves.

It is often believed that you can judge an individuals mood and character through the way he/she fights never is this more evidant.
