=What is Movement=
In [[Jedi Outcast]] and [[Jedi Academy]], movement refers to the player's ability to navigate in the world of the game. Specifically it refers to dodging, running, and jumping which are all abilities that were unheard of before the [[Dark Forces]] game came out. Since the Dark Forces and Jedi Knight game series were the first to incorporate movement into the game, those skills have been absolutely necessary to become a great player.

=Types of Movement=
Movement is used to describe many different skills. Many types of movement skills are simply a way of getting from any spot to another as quick as possible. These skills include [[jump|Jumping]], [[Strafe Jump|Jumping]] , [[speed|Force Speed]], and [[Wall Run|Wall Running]]. Movement also refers to how you move around in a [[Duel Mode|duel]].

=Gameplay=
When you start Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy you have only your single saber to fight and defend with. You will use this single saber until you become a Knight and get the choice of having [[Dual]] sabers, a saber [[Staff]], or just keeping your single saber and adding more [[saber styles]].

The Single Saber is generally considered the most effective saber in the game because of its three main saber styles. Styles for the single saber include [[blue stance]] (fast), [[yellow stance]] (medium), and [[red stance]] (strong). Each stance has its own unique advantages and disadvantages, as well as 2 special moves. Unlike dual sabers or a saber staff, the single saber offers a greater range of adaptability and a master can utilize this unpredictability to their advantage.

To a Jedi the lightsaber is his/her main weapon. It is elegant strong and powerful, reflecting each user’s inner personalities and feelings. Mastering saber combat can be very difficult and takes time, patience and training to perfect.
Since the saber is a sword-like weapon, there are multiple possible Stances and Styles as with any combat form.

The Blue Stance is fast moving, but has a short range and does low damage.

===[[Yellow]] Stance===

The Yellow is average on speed, range, and damage. It is a good stance for beginners to master.

===[[Red]] Stance===

The Red stance is slow, but has a long range and does a LOT of damage.

Tavion's stance is unique because it has the speed of blue but the range and damage of yellow.

===[[Desann]]'s Stance===

Desann's Stance has the speed and range of yellow, but the damage of red.

Both Desann's and Tavion's stances are one-handed.

The two-handed [[lightsaber]], or staff, is a new addition for [[JKA]]. As seen in the movies, a Jedi wields one saber hilt, with a blade coming out of each end. The Jedi also has the option of shutting down one blade and using only one, but only in [[Yellow stance|yellow stance]] and without the yellow kata or the yellow DFA

===Kata===

A Kata is executed by pressing '''[[primary fire]] and [[secondary fire]]''' simultaneously. The Staff Kata involves the Jedi jumping in the air and spinning, continuing the spin after landing. The Jedi crouches while landing, making the saber blades about waist level. After the spins are complete, the kata allows for an easy roll by pressing forward, and a possible [[roll-stab]]. The roll can make it harder for opponents to counter-attack. The kata can be devastating in a [[FFA]], especially when the fighter moves the mouse during the move.

===Twirl===

The Twirl is a move where the Jedi twirls his staff in front of his body and then over his head. It is achieved by pressing '''forward, crouch, and primary fire''' simultaneously, or by holding forward and crouch and then pressing primary fire. In the beginning of the Twirl, the Jedi is only attacking in front of him, making it easy to counter-attack his sides and back. The last swing of the Twirl is over the Jedi's head in a circle, hitting every direction around him. However, because the last swing is so high, it can be ducked under.

===Butterfly===

The Butterfly is yet another special move available to a staff-user. It is executed by pressing '''forward, jump, and primary fire''' simultaneously. Slightly different, less effective butterflies can be performed by pressing right or left instead of forward. The move involves the Jedi leaping through the air while rotating his body. The Butterfly is especially dangerous beacuse of the control the player has while performing the move. The Jedi can affect the direction of the jump throughout the butterfly, making it very unpredictable and hard to counter. Many fighters will not try to counter the butterfly, and simply avoid it.

*Cost: 10 [[Force Point]]s (Left or Right)

By pressing '''back, jump, and attack''' simultaneously, a player can perform a Backflip. The Backflip involves the jedi jumping high in the air, flipping backwards, and landing with the staff held in front of him. The move is hard to execute, difficult to aim, and does little damage.

==Fictional Biography of Va'kion Inya.==
I was born on the planet Tython, the son of Vomas Inya, ruler of Tython. I was trained in the use of the Universal Force by my father in preperation for my coming of age quest at age 18. For my quest, which was traditional on Tython, I journeyed the galaxy for ten years. When I returned, I found that my father had died. Emboldened by what I had learned, I declared himself ruler of Tython and started prepareing Tython for entrance into the Republic. When the Mirialan girl Kyraru came to Tython after fleeing the sith cult on Korriban that had enslaved her, I made her my apprentice and trained her in the Use of the Universal Force.

The Chat Box is a graphic of a bubble that appears over your players head while you are chatting, changing settings, or simply pausing the game. Many servers have rules that a player should not be attacked if his saber is down or his Chat Box is up. This is considered [[laming]] and is not tolerated. Lamers are usually warned a couple of times and then kicked from the server.

==Things to remember==

*You can't move your player with Chat Box up and are therefore vulnerable to attack.

*Also, remember that lamers love to chop defensive people down so be carefull.

*Chat Boxes are useful if you want to be left alone, just stand in a corner and most people won't bother you
