Absorb is a Light Side Force Power, with the sole purpose of absorbing Force Powers directed at the user, thereby preventing the user from taking damage or being negatively affected by the opponents Force attacks.

Force Absorb only absorbs Force Powers, NOT damage done by a Lightsaber or other weapons, nor does it protect you against falling damage.

Force Absorb is activated by pressing the Force Absorb key, and is stopped when you either hit the Absorb key again, you have no Force Points left, or the duration of the power has run out.

Red stance, also known as strong stance, is a single lightsaber style that uses powerful swings with great range and large windup and follow-through. Up to 3 attacks can be performed in a row in red stance.

Many tend to shy away from this style when first beginning the game. Its slow swing speed is a bit tricky to Master. It would be wise to have a good understanding of blade timing and movement before venturing into this form.

Special Moves
Kata
A Kata is performed by pressing primary fire and secondary fire simultaneously. The Red stance kata involves a few hard swings where the jedi twirls the saber behind his back, followed by a powerful downward swing. The jedi is moving during the kata, making it harder to counter-attack him. The kata is very powerful at close range, but can be avoided if seen in time.
DFA
The red special move, popularly known as the RDFA or "red death from above", is rarely used effectively in online play. It is achieved by pressing forward, jump, and primary fire simultaneously, and can be incorporated into a combination at the same places a forward swing can be. The move involves the jedi leaping forward and unleashing an extremely powerful and unblockable downward swing. Because of the range of the rdfa and the need for perfect timing, it is not used very often on purpose. However, many times fighters will inadvertantly perform an rdfa during a red stance combo when trying to jump forward and attack while in mid-air.

A yellow-purist is a fighter who specializes in yellow stance and uses it nearly exclusively. In Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and early in the life of Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, yellow purists were fairly common. Today, most yellow-purists are european members of the Jedi Academy where older purist instructors have passed on their style to newer students. Purists outside of the Academy are very rare. However, yellow-purists are coming back in numbers because of the popularity of the JA+ mod's modified damage system called "multi-player damages". MP damages give yellow stance a significant advantage. Some of the Academy's best fighters are yellow-purists, but competitive JKA hasn't featured a leading yellow-purist in years.

Breaking Down The Style
Because of the nature of yellow stance, yellow-purists are forced to be excellent in movement. It is considered by many experienced players that yellow-purists aren't actually students of the saber nearly as much as they are students of movement. They also typically stay on the ground and rarely do offensive aerials or counter aerials. Nearly all yellow-purists rely on a style that is defensive in nature and is heavily counter based. A lot of emphasis is put on manipulation both with the saber and movement to provoke the opponent into making a tatical mistake. Advanced yellow-purists will put a lot of practice into understanding how saber collisions work in JK:JA and attempt to utilize parries.

Some famous yellow-purists are former Jedi Academy Master Luke Skywalker, Jedi Academy Council Member Virtue and Jedi Academy Master Jaiko D'Kana.

The wall run is a movement techinique that is fairly simple to do. It can be used in most gametypes to move around the map a little quicker. It comes in two forms, horizontal and vertical.

Vertical
To do the vertical wall run, first you must have a flat wall at a 90 degree angle with the ground. Then you simply run towards the wall, and when you are right next to it, tap the jump button twice, still holding the up button. It is important not to hold the jump button, if you jump too high you will do a Wall Grab instead. After you have started running up the wall, you can either hold the up button until your player automatically jumps off the wall, let go of the up button early to make your player jump off sooner, or tap the jump button, which will make your player jump off the wall a little bit farther.
*This type of wall run can be used to reach higher places than you could with a regular jump. It comes in especially handy in maps with multiple levels, as you can get to the place you want to go much quicker.

Horizontal
To do the horizontal wall run, you must be running forward, parallel to a flat wall that is at a 90 degree angle to the ground. Then you push and hold the corresponding left or right key. (e.g.) If the wall is to the right of you, push the right key. At the same time, you tap the jump button. You should also keep holding forward. Your player should run up the wall in a matrix style move and then come back
down. You can make your player jump off early by tapping the jump button.
DarthMikehttp://archives.thejediacademy.net/index.php?title=Ammunition&diff=2801Ammunition2006-04-24T02:34:57Z
DarthMike: small addition

Every weapon, excluding the Lightsaber, and Stun Baton, needs ammunition in order to work.
Ammunition boxes can be found throughout the maps, usually near the weapon that requires the ammunition.
Ammunition for more powerful weapons is usually more rare, and in difficult to reach areas.

Ammunition is usually called ammo.

There are 4 different kinds of ammunition, namely:

*Arakyd 3T3 Missiles which are used by the Merr-Sonn PLX-2M Portable Missile System
*Blaster Packs which is used by the E-11 Blaster Rifle

A great all-around weapon, the Heavy Repeater is capable of overwhelming a Jedi's Lightsaber Defense with a barage of bullets and killing whole groups of enemies with large blasts of energy.

Primary Fire
The Heavy Repeater's primary fire mode is rapidly firing metal bullets fired in a wide area. The fire is spread enough so that it cannot be completely defended by a Jedi's lightsaber and cannot be deflected accurately. However, the bolts do little damage and do not have enough power to stop most enemies.

Secondary Fire
The secondary fire of the Repeater is especially dangerous. A large concussion blast, secondary fire inflicts heavy damage and has a long range. Because of the large amount of Ammunition each blast takes, secondary fire is best used on groups of enemies to maximize damage.

The Stun Baton is a rarely used melee weapon. It can only be used when standing right next to someone. When used, sends an electric charge through someone, doing small amounts of damage. There is no difference between the Primary fire and Secondary fire. The only way to acquire this weapon is by spawning with it, or when being turned into a terminator by an admin. It can not be picked up from the ground, if someone dies with it, it will disappear. It is not advised to use the Stun Baton, since any other weapon can easily defeat it.

Free For All (FFA) is a game mode in which players compete individually to score points by killing other players in any way they can.

Scoring
*Eliminating an enemy: +1 point
*Eliminating yourself: -1 point

The player that has the highest score when the Kill Limit or Time Limit is reached, wins.

A lot of FFA Servers are not pure FFA Servers, meaning you cannot kill everyone that you see.
On these Servers, players engage in private 1 on 1 duels, hang around, chat, and that kind of stuff.
Attacking players that have their Chat Box up, or have their Saber down, is considered laming and isn't appreciated. Servers of this nature are sometimes refered to as "Social FFA".

Duel Mode is a special gametype in JK3 where two fighters from everyone on the server fight eachother while everyone else watches in spectator mode. The winner continues to fight and the loser goes to the bottom of the list of those waiting to fight. Both fighters start with 100 HP and the damagescale is adjusted to make hits do less damage - prolonging the fight. All fighters on the server can look at their scoreboard and see how many kills and deaths they have gotten. Dualmode usually has rounds either decided by one player reaching a certain number of kills or by a timelimit. In the event of a timelimit win, the fighter with the greatest amount of HP remaining wins. There are an entire group of duel maps that come standard with the game for players to enjoy this gametype on.

Some of the most popular dueling servers are members of the BWN that run the blademod mod.

Typical Commands
"g_gametype 3" enables the duel gametype

"fraglimit 1" makes it so a fighter only has to win 1 duel to advance to the next fighter

Force Powers are a big addition to the Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy game, both in Single Player as in Multi Player.

There are 16 Force Powers in Multi Player, classed in 3 different sides, namely:

*Dark Side
*Light Side
*Neutral

Dark Side and Light Side Powers can only be used by their respective Sides, meaning Dark Side Powers are only available to Dark Side Users, and vice versa for Light Side Powers.*

Neutral Powers can be used by either Side.

Force Rankings
There are 7 Force Ranks. The Server Administrator can select one of the 7 Ranks, which will grant a certain amount of Force Points that player can use on Force Powers.

The Ranks are:

*Initiate - 5 Force Points
*Padawan - 10 Force Points
*Jedi - 20 Force Points
*Jedi Adept - 30 Force Points
*Jedi Guardian - 50 Force Points
*Jedi Knight - 75 Force Points
*Jedi Master - 100 Force Points

Force Power Selection
Each Force Power has 3 Levels, with each level giving additional features to that Power.
This can be by lowering the Force costs required to use the Power, increasing the duration of the Power, giving more control over the Power, or something else.

Each power and each level of that power has it's own point requirement.
Some Force Powers have lower point requirements than others.

*For example:

The maximum level of Force Grip requires a total of 10 Force Points, while Force Lightsaber Throw requires a total of 18 Force Points.

There are 3 Force Powers that have a 'free' Level, those are Force Jump, Force Lightsaber Offense and Force Lightsaber Defense. These Powers require 0 Force Points to attain Level 1.
Hey bro! Hope things are cool with ya. I've read somewhere that Dutch handles these things differently, so there might be some confusion. With a title, you only capitalize the title when it is used with the name or object. For example: Professor Tido Kenobi and Doctor D@RtHM@UL. However you never capitalize a title by itself as it is now just a regular noun. Example: I talked to my professor today about what my doctor told me. Peace!

Terminator is an admin power usable in some mods. It can be used on a specific player, or on everyone in the server. Whoever it is used on recieves every weapon, except for the lightsaber, and 999 ammunition. They are also given all of the items. The side effects are that all Force Powers are removed, and that it isn't possible to use the lightsaber.

Empower is an admin command that can be used in some modifications. It can be used on a specific person, or on everyone in the server. When it is used on someone, that person recieves all of the Neutral, Light and Dark Side powers at their max level. Their Force Pool also goes up to a max of 200. The side effects of this are that they lose the ability to use weapons other than the lightsaber, as well as any items they might have.

Strafe jumping is a technique that is used to get around faster. It is faster to strafe jump than it is to run with Speed. It is a useful skill to learn, but can take a bit of getting used to.

How to do it: First you have to know how to hop around using the "bunny hop". This means that you repeatedly jump around without using any force. This requires quick taps of the jump key. After you can do this, you can apply the actual strafe part. Basically you alternate holding down the right and left directional keys after you do each bunny hop. EX: {jump, hold down right key, jump, hold down left key, jump.........}. You must also move your cursor slightly (30-50 degrees) in the same direction as the key you are holding on that jump. Your mouse should be facing forward again when you land each time. You should be holding the forward directional key the whole time.
DarthMikehttp://archives.thejediacademy.net/index.php?title=Duel_maps&diff=2692Duel maps2006-04-02T07:10:44Z
DarthMike: /* Bespin Courtyard */

Attention
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, the fourth game of the Dark Forces series that began with Dark Forces (1995), and continued with Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II (1997), Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast(2002), and eventually Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (2003). Rumors of a fifth game in the series began shortly after its release, although Lucasarts has not released any offical word on this possibility.

Single Player
The single player version of this game puts you in the position of a new jedi in training, after the events of the Star Wars movies. You can select different missions to complete, and upon completing each mission, are able to choose new Force Powers and upgrade current ones. Late in the game you are also given the choice to turn to the Dark Side or stay on the Light Side. Whichever one you choose, you can still use Force Powers from either side. Unlike previous games, you have a Lightsaber as soon as you start this game, as opposed to aquiring it in later levels like in the other Jedi Knight games. The game features many characters from the Star Wars movies, including Chewbacca, Boba Fett, and none other than Luke Skywalker himself. You will go to famous Star Wars locations such as Coruscant, Tatooine, and Yavin. You will face a variety of enemies, from the infamous Stormtroopers, to the lightsaber wielding Reborn. On the downside, the gameplay leaves a little to be desired. If you are expecting to have twirling, dodging, and parrying lightsaber battles, you may be disappointed. The lightsaber combat is nothing like the movies, there is little parrying, and it is mostly just running around swinging your lightsaber wildly, hoping to land a hit. Still, the game offers a fun Star Wars experience, and a glimpse into the world after the events of the movies.
DarthMikehttp://archives.thejediacademy.net/index.php?title=Duel_maps&diff=2686Duel maps2006-04-02T06:40:17Z
DarthMike:
