— Han Solo

The BlasTech DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol is the default sidearm in Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. As long as it isn't disabled by the server, this weapon is carried by everyone and has an unlimited supply of ammo in multiplayer. A modified version of the DL-44 was carried by Han Solo in the Star Wars movies. The DL-44 is known for its slow rate of fire but exceptional accuracy.

Primary Fire

The DL-44 fires an accurate, low-powered bolt at a rate slight faster than 1 shot a second. The shots do very little damage and is mostly worthless in multiplayer situations. Primary fire is used more as a pointer than a weapon in online JK3.

Secondary Fire

The DL-44's ability to charge its energy into a powerful blast makes it a practical weapon in oneline fights. By holding the secondary fire key, a powerful burst of energy builds up and can be fired. How powerful the burst is depends on how long the weapon is charged, but it does have a limit and will automatically discharge itself when maxed out. The charged shots move slower than the bolts from primary fire, and most fighters have to learn how to lead the shots to hit their opponents. Despite its various shortcomings, secondary fire is the prefered method in online combat.

Other Information

The DL-44 is based on the German Mauser C96 pistol. In the original movies, Mausers were modified at the muzzle, stock, and added scope to be DL-44s.
