Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, the fourth game of the Dark Forces series that began with Dark Forces (1995), and continued with Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II (1997), Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast(2002), and eventually Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (2003). Rumors of a fifth game in the series began shortly after its release, although Lucasarts has not released any offical word on this possibility.
Single Player
The single player version of this game puts you in the position of a new jedi in training, after the events of the Star Wars movies. You can select different missions to complete, and upon completing each mission, are able to choose new force powers and upgrade current ones. Late in the game you are also given the choice to turn to the dark side or stay on the light side. Whichever one you choose, you can still use force powers from both sides. Unlike in previous games, you have a lightsaber as soon as you start this game, as opposed to aquiring it in later levels like the other Jedi Knight games. The game features many from the Star Wars movies. These inlcude Chewbacca, Jango Fett, and none other than Luke Skywalker. You will go to common Star Wars locations such as Coruscant, Tatooine, and Yavin. You will face a variety of enemies, from the infamous Storm Troopers, to the light-saber wielding reborn. The gameplay leaves a little to be desired. If you are expecting to have twirling, dodging, and parrying light-saber battles, you may be disappointed. The light-saber combat is very dissimilar to the movies, there is very little parrying, it is mostly just running around swinging your saber wildly, hoping to land a hit. Still, the game offers a fun Star Wars experience, and a glimpse into the world after the events of the Star Wars movies.
