Secondary fire is used to describe the alternative type of fire for each weapon. Although it usually uses more ammunition, secondary fire is the optimal type of fire to use for most guns, since it is generally a more effective way to damage opponents, either because more Hit Points are taken, or because you are more likely to hit them. Most people bind the secondary fire command to 'Mouse 2'.
